Methodology

The proposed benchmark would combine two evidence types: (1) dated vendor-published facts that are independently rechecked before each release; and (2) standardized call tests across five scenarios. The current page contains a draft fact table and test design, not completed comparative research.

In a future test cycle, each scenario would run against a disclosed demo, trial, or paid configuration with the same scripts and conditions. Proposed dimensions are Responsiveness, Comprehension, Empathy, Completeness, and Accuracy. Weighting, missing-data rules, reviewer calibration, and confidence intervals must be finalized before a score is calculated.

We publish the caveats, not just the scores.

  • Scenario-based scoring is partly subjective. Any future release should link consented evidence or privacy-safe excerpts, per-call scoring notes, exclusions, and a versioned methodology. This page does not promise that such evidence already exists.
  • Pricing changes. We re-fetch all pricing pages monthly and update the table with the re-fetch date.
  • VantaWeb and this page share ownership. No independent reviewer has been represented as retained for the current draft. Any future VantaWeb result must disclose the conflict, use the same rubric, and publish the measured result even when unfavorable.
  • Arini does not publish pricing publicly. Their comparison cells reflect only what is verifiable without a sales conversation.
  • Smith.ai's AI Receptionist product is separate from their Virtual Receptionists product. Comparison data here targets the AI Receptionist where distinguishable on their site.
  • G2 and Capterra block automated scraping. Where vendors display badge ratings on their own sites, we cite the vendor page as source. Check G2 directly for current review counts.
  • The "Latency claim" row is not apples-to-apples: VantaWeb's "< 300ms STT latency" measures a single pipeline component (speech-to-text), while Arini's "300ms streaming latency" is presented as an end-to-end figure. Only VantaWeb's separately-published low-latency first-word latency (see above) is directly comparable to a competitor's end-to-end claim.
